Hello Wavers!
The load object from scene is the one of the most under used features in
Lightwave. When you set up your scenes, think in little pieces. Create a
"GLOBAL" directory in your scenes folder. Go to layout and load in the random
stars object and then clone it 2 times. Now load the actual stars object and
clone it 2 times. Rotate your stars so the are random. Load a null and rename
it starnull, and parent the stars to it. Now save the scene in your newly
created GLOBAL directory and call GlobalStars.LWS. Now, anytime you need to
create a space scene, use the load from scene under your load objects menu,
or if you're just starting just load scene, and viola! instant star field!
This keeps you from having to load all those objects in again, and again.
Create your scenes in pieces. Then use load from scene. This works for
setting up your scene at frame 0. You will also see a considerable increase
in speed because your machine won't have to redraw all those polys!
This is just one example. This process works really well on repeating
objects. Lots of trees, a road with telephone poles, etc. you will be
surprised at how many time you use the same objects for different scenes. If
you start a scene and realize that you need those objects, no problemo! Load
from scene! Just make sure when you create a scene for this use you parent
all objects to a null. That way you can move and rotate your global scene to
match up with the scene you're currently working on.
See Ya!
